With 25th year head coach Christina Lee leading the way, the Mount Holyoke outdoor track and field team took part in six meets in the spring of 2011. The Lyons earned the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award for the third time in program history.

Jacinta Edebeli Senior Jacinta Edebeli set the tone for the team with her outstanding all-around results. Her top performance of the year came at the Bowdoin College Aloha Relays, where she grabbed second place in the heptathlon. With her score, she qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the event.

Edebeli was at her best in the shot put, where she took home top honors with a toss of 28.40. In doing so, she made herself eligible for the New England Division III Championships in the event. She won the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.40 and also secured third place finishes in both the long jump and javelin. As a team, Mount Holyoke grabbed sixth place.

One week later, Edebeli boosted the Lyons to an eighth place finish at the NEWMAC Championships. In addition to taking home top honors in the shot put with her toss of 11.42 meters, she also established a new school record with 3,534 points in the heptathlon. It was the second year in a row that an athlete from Mount Holyoke earned First Team All-Conference honors.

Throughout the season, sophomore Angelica Pascual consistently produced outstanding results in the sprints. She qualified for the New England Division III Championships in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Pascual dominated the Eastern Connecticut State University Invitational, taking first place in the 200-meter dash, second place in the 100-meter dash and fourth place in the long jump.

Her success continued at the NEWMAC Championships, where she figured in on three points. After earning one point with her eighth place time of 26.71 in the 200-meter dash, she joined forces with first year Kathleen O'Connor, first year Bianca Routt and sophomore Whitney Bailey to secure a pair of points in the 4x100-meter relay. The quartet took seventh place with their time of 54.64. Pascual narrowly missed the finals in the 100-meter dash, finishing in ninth place with a time of 13.17.

Mount Holyoke's remaining points came from junior Felicia Cordeiro, who added four with her fifth place time of 12:55.43 in the steeplechase.

Junior Gizelle Fletcher made herself eligible for the New England Division III Championships with her 12th place time of 27.11 in the 200-meter dash.
