WESTWOOD, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its women's tennis award winners for the 2017-18 season and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Catherine Peabody was among this year's honorees.

A sophomore out of San Francisco, Calif., Peabody was named to the All-Conference Second Team at singles for her outstanding efforts throughout the 2017-18 season. She went 10-6 in third singles this season with a 12-6 overall mark. Peabody also went 1-1 from both first and second singles. In conference action, Peabody posted a 6-2 mark, her only losses coming against regionally-ranked Babson and the then-#13 in the nation, MIT.

Peabody also excelled in doubles action in 2017-18, posting a 13-5 record with partner, first year Anya Gerasimova (Salem, Ore./West Salem). The pair also posted a 6-2 record at two in NEWMAC play; their only losses coming against MIT – the 2018 NEWMAC Tournament champions – and Babson.

Last season, the former Lick-Wilmerding High School standout posted a 15-7 singles mark, including an 11-6 record from four. She went 4-4 against conference opponents with an 11-7 doubles record.

Through her first two seasons, Peabody has gone 27-13 in singles action and owns a 24-12 mark from doubles. She is also a NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honoree and an ITA Scholar-Athlete. In addition, she was named the recipient of the Cramer Players Award by her teammates on the tennis squad.

As a team, the Lyons posted an 8-11 overall record, going 5-3 in NEWMAC play during the spring season. MHC finished the year as the fourth-seed in the conference tournament – their 14th consecutive playoff berth – shouldering a tough 5-4 loss to fifth-seed Wheaton in the Quarterfinals.
