NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Action at the 2017 NEWITT Tournament came to an end on Sunday as play shifted over to the courts at Smith College. Mount Holyoke tennis saw one duo left in action in the event, competing in the consolation finals of the B draw.

The Lyons saw sophomore Catherine Peabody (San Francisco, Calif./Lick-Wilmerding) and first year Anya Gerasimova (Salem, Ore./West Salem) in action, going up against Colby College's Callie Nesbitt and Isha Banerjee. The Mules picked up an 8-4 win in doubles action to secure the first point. Gerasimova rebounded with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Banerjee, but Peabody was unable to hold off Nesbitt, who took a 6-0, 6-1 victory to win the match and the consolation draw.

Mount Holyoke concluded its fall action with this weekend's event. They will return to the courts in February when they compete at the 2018 Seven Sisters Championship at Bryn Mawr.
