Basketball Suffers Setback to Emerson in NEWMAC Opener

Boston, Mass. - January 16, 2022 - The Mount Holyoke College basketball team opened up New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on the road on Saturday afternoon as the Lyons fell to host Emerson, 69-44. 

Mount Holyoke is now 2-5 on the year, while Emerson improves to 3-9 with the win. 

First-year guard Marley Berano (Lady Lake, Fla.) led the Lyons with 15 points, three assists and two rebounds, while Annika Brooks (Portland, Maine) finished with a double double of 11 points and 10 boards. Cal McGonagle (Yarmouth, Maine) also had 10 rebounds and chipped in with eight points in the loss.

Mount Holyoke will look to get back on track on Wednesday, January 19 when the Lyons host Wellesley at 7 p.m.
