Kilburn Named to NFHCA Senior Game Squad

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) has announced its selections to the 2014 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division III Senior Game and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Kirsten Kilburn is among those selected to participate. The game, which is one of the most prestigious events for Division III seniors, will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 4pm on the campus of Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va.

A native of North Branford, Conn., Kilburn has been one of the primary offensive catalysts for the Lyons all season. She has helped propel Mount Holyoke to #16 in the latest NFHCA Division III Top-20 poll as the Lyons have gone 14-2 overall and 6-1 in NEWMAC play this season.

Through 15 games, Kilburn leads the nation and the conference with 17 assists, adding 12 goals for a team-best 41 points. She has added a conference-high 101 shots (60 on goal) and has a conference-high six game-winning tallies. Kilburn also ranks second in the conference in points and is tied for fifth in goals.

A two-time NEWMAC Offensive Performer of the Week selection in 2014, Kilburn has reached a number of major program milestones this season. She became the all-time leader in points on October 18 at Babson, scoring three goals in a 5-2 win for 161 career points – surpassing the 159 mark put forth by Shara Robertson '12.

Kilburn then became the all-time leader in assists on October 21 at WPI, assisting on the game-winning tally to achieve the 50th helper of her career and pass the previous career mark (49). She is currently six goals away from tying the all-time mark, also held by Robertson (67).

As a junior, Kilburn started all 21 games, tallying 19 goals and a team-best 19 assists. She had three game-winning goals and recorded 117 shots, including 80 in goal. In addition to ranking first in the NEWMAC in assists, she was third in the conference in goals, points and shots. A  NEWMAC and ECAC Offensive Performer of the Week, Kilburn was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team, the Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-New England East Region First Team and the Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-America Second Team.

During her sophomore campaign, Kilburn started all 17 games, leading the team in assists (7), points (35), shots (96) and shots on goal (64). A NEWMAC All-Conference First Team honoree, she was also named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-New England Region Second Team. As a first year, Kilburn played in all 21 games, leading the team in shots (125), while finishing second in goals (16), points (41), shots on goal (64) and defensive saves (6).

The #16 field hockey team concludes its regular season slate on Saturday in a 12pm contest at Wheaton. The Lyons, who have secured the second-seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament, will face the winner of the #3/#6 quarterfinal game on Saturday, November 8 at 2pm on the campus of Wellesley College.
