Kilburn Earns Second Straight NEWMAC Offensive Performer Honor

BOSTON, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its weekly award winners and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Kirsten Kilburn is among those selected. The senior captain was named the Offensive Performer of the Week in field hockey for the second straight week following another outstanding performance.

A native of North Branford, Conn., Kilburn scored tallied four goals, including two game-winners, with two assists for 10 points to help MHC go 3-0 last week. She assisted on the game-winner in a 1-0 overtime victory at WPI and then scored two goals, including the game-winner, with an assist in a 4-1 win at Western New England.

Kilburn wrapped up the week with two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to help MHC claim a critical 3-2 victory over MIT. That win not only moved the Lyons into second in the conference, but also all but locked MHC in for the first round bye of the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament.

Additionally, her assist at WPI moved her into sole possession of the all-time mark for career assists (51). Kilburn also continues to add to her all-time career points mark with 171 overall and she is just seven goals away from tying the all-time mark in that category. Currently, she has 60 - the record is held by Shara Robertson '12, who has 67 to her credit.

Through 14 games, Kilburn leads the NEWMAC with 16 assists, adding 11 goals for a team-best 38 points. She has added a conference-high 89 shots (51 on goal) and has a conference-high six game-winning tallies. Kilburn also ranks third in the conference in points and is tied for fifth in goals.

The #17 field hockey team returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to Westfield State for a 7:00pm game against the Owls. The Lyons then conclude the regular season on Saturday with a 12pm contest at Wheaton.
