Mount Holyoke fell in NEWMAC road action on Saturday at MIT. shouldered a tough defeat at the hands of Wheaton in the NEWMAC opener for both teams. Senior Kaitlin Braz (Tolland, Conn.) posted a team-best two goals against the Engineers. MHC (1-7; 0-2 NEWMAC) is back in action on Thursday in a 6pm rescheduled match at Salve Regina. The Lyons conclude the week on Saturday in a 4pm match at Eastern Connecticut State University. Mount Holyoke saw 18 riders in action on Saturday at the Regional Championships. The Lyons efforts on Saturday mean that a total of 13 individual rides will be executed by 11 different riders at the Zone 1 Championships, hosted at the MHC Equestrian Center on Saturday beginning at 10am. In addition, MHC will have eight rides in the team competition classes. Saturday's Zone 1 Championships will be broadcast live at https://boxcast.tv/channel/pulzefcjk4jx7f7sgwgd.
The Lyons were idle this week, but return to action on Sunday when they head to Lake Quinsigamond to face WPI, Hamilton, Simmons, Bates, and Pacific Lutheran. Action begins at 8:30am.
Mount Holyoke at the Tufts Snowflake Classic on Saturday as a number of performers had outstanding efforts. Among the top performances was the Lyons 4x100 team of Charleen Theroux (Conventry, R.I.), Isabelle Wohlin (Wellesley, Mass.), Ireland Clare Kennedy (Oakland, Calif.), and Tamara Mukulu (Nairobi, Kenya), who finished in a time of 52.24 for eighth overall. Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday at the Smith College Invitational. Action begins at 11am.
TENNIS
The Lyons (4-7; 1-0 NEWMAC) posted an 8-1 victory over Emerson on Saturday in the NEWMAC opener for both teams. MHC was paced by a strong doubles effort from the second flight as sophomore Catherine Peabody (San Francisco, Calif.) and first year Anya Gerasimova (Salem, Ore.) posted an 8-0 victory. Mount Holyoke returns to action on Tuesday when it opens its NEWMAC home slate against Wheaton at 4:30pm. The Lyons close out the week at Babson on Saturday at 11am.
Mount Holyoke was idle last week and will next be in action on April 14th when it travels to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to compete in the two-day Vassar Invitational.
