Swimming & Diving Splits in Tri-Meet Action at Clark

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team took to the pool on Friday afternoon in a tri-meet against Clark University and Wheaton College. MHC defeated the host Cougars by a 146-94 margin, but fell in the battle of the Lyons as Wheaton grabbed the 130-111 victory. The Lyons are now 4-2 on the season.

MHC was paced by a three-win effort from junior Cathleen Pruden, who cruised to victory in the 1000-free (10:48.12) and the 200-IM (2:14.75). She also touched the wall first in the 500-free (5:27.44).

Sophomore Anne Kuenning was the winner in the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:03.02. She also helped the 200-medley relay team to victory with a mark of 1:54.92. Other members of the relay team included senior Maya Lazarovich, sophomore Katie Tyler and first year Zahra Alley-Baktoo.

Lazarovich went on to win the 100-breaststroke with a mark of 1:11.60, while sophomore Emily Craig was second in the 200-free (2:03.94), the 100-free (57.27) and the 200-free relay. The foursome, which posted a time of 1:42.17, also included Alley-Baktoo, Kuenning and Tyler.

In the diving events, junior Kelly Sin Ee Lim finished third off the 3-meter with a score of 166.70 points.

The Lyons are right back in action on Saturday when they host Simmons College at the MHC Natatorium beginning at 1pm. Live results and video can be found HERE.
