Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Announces 2011 Scholar Athletes

Crew SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (May 25, 2011) – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) recently announced its Scholar Athletes for the 2011 season. Eight members of Mount Holyoke College's crew team were selected as a result of their achievements both on the water and in the classroom.

Mount Holyoke's Scholar Athletes were junior Emily Carol, first year Sarah Champion, senior Emily Forgione, junior Sarah Friedman, sophomore Fan-Jean Liu, senior Iliana Paul, sophomore Anne Preston and senior Cleo Schneider.

All eight Lyons achieved the following criteria set forth by the CRCA: The student-athlete was in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility; The student-athlete rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event; The Head Coach of the student-athlete's institution was a member in good standing of the CRCA as of May 1, 2011; The student-athlete has had a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career (through the fall semester/quarter for the current competition year).
