WORCESTER, Mass. (Apr. 30, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College women's crew team competed in the New England Rowing Championships today at Lake Quinsigamond. All three varsity eight boats, as well as the novice boat, participated for the Lyons.
Mount Holyoke's varsity eight boat took home sixth place in the Petite Final of its division. The Lyons posted a time of 6:53.967, which was good for 12th place overall and ninth amongst NCAA Division III competitors. Prior to the Petite Final, they posted a fourth place time of 6:47.759 in their preliminary heat.
It was more of the same in the second varsity eight division, where Mount Holyoke finished 11th overall and ninth amongst Division III entrants. The Lyons posted a fifth place finish in the Petite Final with their time of 7:10.250. They preceded that with a third place showing in their preliminary heat (7:03.667).
Mount Holyoke's third varsity boat finished fourth in the Petite Final of its division with a time of 7:52.852.
Meanwhile, the Lyons crossed the line second in the novice eight Petite Final. They topped the Coast Guard Academy, Middlebury College and the University of Vermont with their time of 7:18.319.
Mount Holyoke is slated to take part in the ECAC Championships next Sunday at Lake Quinsigamond.
