Crew Competes in Head of the Charles Regatta

Crew BOSTON, Mass. (Oct. 24, 2010) – The Mount Holyoke College crew team participated in the 46th annual Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Massachusetts today. A total of 55 races took place on the Charles River on Saturday and Sunday.

Mount Holyoke's varsity eight boat participated in the Collegiate Eights Division. Facing off against 30 teams from around the country, the Lyons posted a 13th place result. Among the 21 Division III teams in the field, they finished 10th. Led by coxswain Elizabeth Bernal, the boat avoided a collision with a wide turn and posted a time of with a time of 17:31.803. Bernal was joined in the boat by Clare Enright, Cleo Schneider, Megan Roark, Robyn Kranzler, Anne Preston, Hattie Gemerchak, Emily Forgione and Sarah Champion.

Williams College nabbed first place with a time of 16:24.200. The Lyons finished in front of Smith College, Simmons College, Wesleyan University, Colby College, Middlebury College and Tufts University in addition to others.

Mount Holyoke will round out its fall slate by hosting the Seven Sisters Championship on Saturday.
