NEWMAC All-Conference

BABSON PARK, Mass. (Apr. 20, 2011) – After taking home fourth place at the NEWMAC Championship on Saturday, three members of Mount Holyoke's crew team were named to All-Conference Teams. Representing the Lyons on the varsity squad were seniors Robyn Kranzler and Cleo Schneider. First year Kirsten Therrien earned novice team accolades.

This is the second straight season that Schneider has been selected to the NEWMAC All-Conference Team. She was also named to the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships All-Conference Team last spring.

WPI's Jason Steele was selected as the NEWMAC Coach of the Year. His program also earned the league's Sportsmanship Award. Wellesley College captured the NEWMAC Championship, narrowly edging out the Coast Guard Academy in the varsity eight race by just a half of a second. The Blue also won the Florence Smith Cup, accumulating the most team points throughout the four races on Saturday.

The Lyons will be off until Saturday, April 30, when they compete in the New England Rowing Championships at Lake Quinsigamond.
