Williamson Competes at CSA Individual Championships

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senior captain Brandy Williamson competed at the 2018 College Individual Championships hosted by George Washington University on Friday. Despite a pair of strong efforts, Willamson fell in both matches, 3-0 in the Holleran Cup: B Division West.

In the round of 16, Princeton first year Raneem El Torky (Alexandria, Egypt/Milton Academy) got off to a fast start in the first game with an 11-6 victory. Williamson (New York, N.Y./Thurgood Marshall Academy) then put up a tough effort, but fell 11-8 to fall behind by a 2-0 margin. In the third game, Williamson displayed some of the best squash she has played all season with impressive rallies. After Williamson nearly leveled the game at 10-all, El Torky earned the deciding point and match victory.

Action continued in the consoloation quarterfinals where Willamson matched up with Dartmouth senior Rebecca Brownell (Belmont, Mass./Noble & Greenough School). Brownell played well in the first two games, winning 11-3, and 11-4. Williamson began to gain momentum back as she took the lead in the third game, but Brownell came back from behind to pull ahead. Trailing 10-7, The New York native made a huge push at match point with two clutch points to cut the deficit to 10-9. Brownell went on to win the final rally to take a 3-0 victory in the match.
