#27 Squash Falls at #20 Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Mount Holyoke College squash team returned to action on Friday afternoon, shouldering a tough loss on the road at Wesleyan University. The #20 Cardinals rallied to a 9-0 win over the #27 Lyons at the Rosenbaum Squash Center.

Using the three-court system, the match got underway with the third, sixth and ninth flights on the ladder. Wesleyan's Ananya Vir posted an 11-6, 11-5, 11-2 victory against MHC's Emily Chang at three. From six, Cardinals' Tatum Leclair bested Tanishka Sachidanand, 11-4, 11-8, 12-10, while Ale Lampiette gave the home team a 3-0 advantage with an 11-3, 11-6, 11-3 win at nine against MHC's Nicole Lara Granados.

In the second round of three, Wesleyan's Aditi Prasad earned an 11-5, 11-6, 11-7 against the Lyons' Ragini Ghose from two. Natasha Feenstra moved it to a 5-0 edge with an 11-2, 11-3, 11-8 victory against MHC's Jennifer Mbah. Finally at eight, Ali Imperiale defeated Emma Robson, 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 as the Cardinals went into the final action with the 6-0 match lead.

The final round of action saw Laila Samy post an 11-5, 11-3, 11-1 against MHC's Brandy Williamson at the top of the ladder. From four, Josie Russ captured an 11-9, 11-3, 11-8 win over Lessly Portillo, while the final match of the day was a nail-bitter. Sofia Melian-Morse posted victory from seven with an 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 edging of MHC's Kuzivakwashe Madungwe.

Mount Holyoke returns to action next Friday when it travels to Williams College for a 5pm match against the Ephs.
