THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (3-2, 0-0 NEWMAC) has rolled to three consecutive wins behind the outstanding play of attackers Hilary Bombard and Liz Randolph. Bombard was named NEWMAC Player of the Week after netting the winner in the Lyons' 11-10 triumph over the University of New England on Wednesday. The captain has amassed eight goals and two assists thus far this season. Randolph has made immediate impact on the program, posting 14 goals and three assists. Meanwhile, attacker Alex Crean has accounted for eight goals and three assists, and midfielder Georgia Markell has chipped in with 12 draw controls and 11 ground balls. Jamie Theophilos has been Mount Holyoke's featured goalkeeper. She has turned away 28 shots.
THE BEARS: Bridgewater State (4-0, 0-0 NEWLA) has exploded out of the gate, winning each of its four games. The Bears have defeated Vassar College (20-12), SUNY Potsdam (13-12), MIT (9-8) and Salve Regina University (22-13). Midfielder Courtney Lennon has piled up 15 goals and 10 assists to lead the way. Bridgewater State has also received a boost from attacker Jenny Jones, who has found the back of the net 18 times to go with two helpers. Attacker Kristin White has chipped in with eight goals and six assists, while midfielder Patricia Maloney and defender Erin Quimby have contributed 12 draw controls apiece. Katie Weber has played all 246 minutes between the pipes for the Bears. She has collected 31 saves.
NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke will open up its NEWMAC schedule on Saturday, when it visits Wellesley College at noon. Meanwhile, Bridgewater State is set to host Roger Williams on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
