  • 2011-12 Field Hockey Year in Review

    With longtime head coach Andy Whitcomb leading the way, the Mount Holyoke field hockey team enjoyed one the most memorable seasons in school history. After earning a share of the NEWMAC Regular Season Championship, the Lyons took home top honors at the ECAC Tournament . They closed out their outstanding season with an overall record of 16-5.
  • Field Hockey Earns National Academic Honors

    The Mount Holyoke field hockey team was recently recognized by the NFHCA for achieving a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester. In addition, 13 individual members of the team were named to the 2011 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.
  • Robertson Earns First Team All-America Honors

    Field hockey team standout Shara Robertson earned NFHCA Division III First Team All-America honors as a result of her outstanding play this fall. The senior led the Lyons to a share of the NEWMAC Regular Season Championship and their second ECAC New England Championship. She will graduate as the program’s all-time leader in career points and goals.
  • Five Lyons Claim NFHCA All-Region Honors

    Seniors Shara Robertson, Tricia Chase, Katie Gibson, Taylor Hedges and Jess Fajardo have earned NFHCA All-Region accolades as a result of their outstanding play this fall. All five players were instrumental in leading the Lyons to a share of the NEWMAC Regular Season Championship and their second ECAC New England Championship.
  • ECAC CHAMPIONS! Slysz Leads Field Hockey to Upset Victory Over Plymouth State

    Led by sophomore Stephanie Slysz, third-seeded Mount Holyoke upset top-seeded Plymouth State 4-2 in the finals of the ECAC Division III New England Tournament this afternoon. The forward recorded two goals and an assist for the Lyons, who were crowned ECAC Champions for the second time in program history.

  • NEWMAC Announces Fall Academic All-Conference Squads

    The NEWMAC recently announced its 2011 Fall Academic All-Conference Teams. Twenty-three Mount Holyoke student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of cross country, field hockey, soccer, tennis and volleyball.

    After advancing to the NEWMAC Championship for the fourth time in program history over the weekend, Mount Holyoke has secured the third seed in the 2011 ECAC Division III New England Tournament. The Lyons will host a quarterfinal round contest against sixth-seeded Worcester State on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. They were crowned ECAC Champions in 2002.
  • Field Hockey Drops Heartbreaker to MIT in NEWMAC Championship

    Mount Holyoke suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 setback to top-seeded MIT in the NEWMAC Championship this afternoon at Jack Barry Field. After gaining a 1-0 edge on Aurora Rougeau's first collegiate tally midway through the second half, the second-seeded Lyons surrendered a goal in the final seconds of regulation before Anna Teruya knocked in the winner 1:51 into overtime.

    Tricia Chase and Shara Robertson have been selected to represent Mount Holyoke at the 2011 NFHCA Division III Senior All-Star Game. They were among the 57 players from around the nation to be chosen for the match, which will take place at Nichols on Saturday, November 19 at 5:00 p.m.

With the win, the Lyons secured a share of the NEWMAC Regular Season Championship. Robertson became the program's all-time leader in career goals and points.
  • Field Hockey’s Match at Springfield Suspended Due to Snow

    UPDATE: Mount Holyoke will have to wait another day to finish its match at Springfield. The Lyons enjoyed a 1-0 advantage with 12:43 remaining in regulation before heavy snow made the field unplayable on Saturday. Play will resume at Stagg Field on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
  • Field Hockey Overpowers Westfield State Behind Robertson and Kilburn

    Shara Robertson and Kirsten Kilburn recorded two goals apiece to lead Mount Holyoke to a convincing 6-0 triumph over Westfield State this evening at the Turf Field. Robertson also chipped in with two assists for the Lyons, who ran their win streak to three. With her two tallies tonight, the forward tied Krista Lindquist ’02 as the program’s all-time leader in career goals scored with 60.
  • Gibson Named NEWMAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week

    Goalkeeper Katie Gibson has been named NEWMAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week after leading Mount Holyoke to a perfect 2-0 week with her stellar play between the pipes. The senior surrendered just one goal in a pair of key league wins over WPI and Clark. It was the second time this season that she has earned the award.

    Mount Holyoke hosts non-conference foe Westfield State Tuesday evening (7:00 p.m.) at the Turf Field. This will be first meeting between the programs since the 1987 season, when Westfield State came out on top 3-0. The Lyons downed the Owls 5-0 in 1974.
  • Longtime Field Hockey Head Coach Andy Whitcomb Collects 150th Win at Mount Holyoke

    With her victory over Clark this afternoon, longtime field hockey head coach Andy Whitcomb reached 150 wins in her career at Mount Holyoke. One of the top coaches in the northeast, she has posted an impressive 150-116-1 (.564) record since taking over the reins of the program in 1998.

    Senior Jess Fajardo has earned the Lyon of the Week Award for the week of October 3-9 after leading the field hockey team to convincing wins over Nichols and Babson. The forward scored three goals and accounted for nine of her team's 63 shots.
  • Chase Collects NEWMAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week Accolades

    Senior Tricia Chase has been named NEWMAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 3-9. It is the second time in her career that she has earned a NEWMAC Weekly Award. With Chase leading the way, the Lyons posted a pair of shutouts in a perfect 2-0 week.
