Westerville, Ohio - December 4, 2021 - Mount Holyoke College had seven student-athletes compete at the Holiday Tournament of Champions on Saturday, hosted at Otterbein University. Saturday's show was one of a series of competitions in the fall and spring that feature top equestrian teams from around the country.

Senior Sara Hearn (Tallahasee, Fla.) continued her strong 2021-22 campaign as she earned the Reserve Champion High Medal Rider Award at day's end. The Lyons finished fourth overall out of 16 teams, totaling 31 points on the day.

Hearn was the first to open action for MHC in Open Fences, where she had a great round for the blue ribbon. First year Chloe Truett (Owensboro, Ky.) was next up in Intermediate Fences, laying down a gorgeous trip to finish in sixth place.

After a short schooling break, Hearn entered the ring again for the flat phase of the ToC Collegiate High Medal. She had a lovely ride, progressing to the jumping phase of the Medal.

After another schooling break, the show resumed with Limit Fences. Sophomore Emmie Mirarchi (Harvard, Mass.) put in a wonderful ride, finishing in third place. We then moved on to the sections of the ToC Collegiate Low Medal flat phase, where junior Caroline Sullivan (Groton, Mass.) had a great ride but unfortunately did not progress to the fences phase.

After another short schooling break, Hearn returned in the jumping phase of the High Medal. She had a wonderful round in a very competitive class, and was called back for a test. The results from this class were announced at the end of the day.

After a schooling break, MHC resumed action with Hearn once again entering the ring for Open Flat, where she had a stunning ride for fifth place. Mirarchi competed next in Limit Flat, and had a lovely ride for the blue ribbon. She was followed by junior Shannon Feng (Beijing, China) who rode beautifully in Introductory, to place fourth.

Sophomore Sunita Pearson-Siegel (Brooklyn, N.Y.) followed in Novice, where she had a gorgeous ride for third place. Manager and senior Sierra Dunn (Florence, Mass.) then wrapped up the action for MHC in Intermediate Flat, where she had a wonderful ride to finish in fourth place.
