Riding Wins Fourth-Straight High Point College Title at Home on Saturday

South Hadley, Mass. - March 5, 2022 - The Mount Holyoke College hunt seat team hosted the first regular show of the semester, finishing the day with 46 points, to earn their fourth-straight High Point College title. 

Mount Holyoke College started the day with Open over Fences, where the ring saw beautiful rides from senior captain Sara Hearn (Tallahassee, Fla.) and junior Georgia Fish (Baltimore, Md.), who finished in first and third respectively.

Two sections of Intermediate Fences followed. In the first section, first-year Camille Cheng (Goleta, Calif.) had a lovely ride over fences, taking the blue ribbon. In the next section, senior Tori Fletcher (Branford, Conn.) had a strong ride to place third.  

Up next was Limit over Fences with three splits, first of which saw strong rides from sophomore Emmie Mirarchi (Harvard, Mass.), junior Johanna Sullivan (Worcester, Mass.), and classmate Shemica Adenwalla (Dubai, United Arab Emirates), who finished in first, fourth, and fifth, respectively. Next up, junior and assistant manager Acadia Ferrero-Lampron (Denver, Colo.), first-year Lila McDougall (Shirley, Mass.), and senior Hannah Brown (Portland, Ore.) had stunning trips over fences to finish first, fifth, and sixth respectively in their class. In the third section, the ring saw lovely rides from senior Kristina Honour (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Sullivan, where they finished in fifth and sixth, respectively. The final section saw three more beautiful trips over fences from junior Caroline Sullivan (Groton, Mass.), sophomore Claire Williams (Zionsville, Ind.), and Honour, who earned third, fifth, and sixth places respectively. 

In the final class of the morning, Mount Holyoke hunt seat alum Maya Brody '20 had a beautiful ride to place second in Alumni Fences.

The ring saw two sections of Introductory Equitation. In the first section, senior Heidy Duan and sophomore Astrid Zhao (Beijing, China) had strong rides to finish in first and fourth, with Duan winning in her hunt seat IHSA debut. In the next section, junior Xike Zhao and classmate Shannon Feng (Beijing, China) had lovely rides to finish first and third respectively.

Next up, Brody returned to the ring with a lovely ride to place third in Alumni Flat. In the next class, Hearn returned to the ring with a stunning ride in Open Flat, earning a blue ribbon in her class.

Next up were two sections of Intermediate Flat. The first section saw Fish and Honour return to the ring with beautiful rides, to finish first and third respectively. Next up, senior Kristina Lester (West Suffield, Conn.) had a gorgeous ride to win her class.  

The ring then moved on to the first two of five sections of Limit Flat. In the first split, junior Kristen Adolf (Moore, S.C.) and sophomore Brenna Donovan (Andover, Mass.) had strong rides, to finish first and third respectively. The second section saw Brown and Fletcher return to the ring with stunning rides for a one-two finish. 

Pre-Novice was up next, splitting up the Limit Classes. Junior Piper Kilgore (Deerfield, N.H.) entered the ring for MHC, putting in a beautiful ride to win her class. 

Next in the ring were the final two sections of Limit Flat. Williams returned to the ring in the first section, with a stunning ride to finish in third place. Next up, junior Hayley Halloran (Lewes, Del.) and Sullivan had a lovely rides, to finish in first and third respectively. 

Wrapping up the day were three sections of the Novice division. In the first section, sophomore Chloe McElveen (Ridgeland, S.C.) and first-year Madison Hurley (Portland, Maine) had strong rides, to finish second and third, respectively. Junior Daniela Fraser (Vero Beach, Fla.) had a solid ride in the next section, placing fifth. In the final class of the day, senior Yixuan He (Nanjing, China) rode beautifully, finishing in third place.

At the end of the day, Hearn was named High Point Rider of the day and Mount Holyoke finished the day with 46 points, earning their fourth-consecutive High Point College title.

The regular season will continue on Sunday, March 6 at Maplewood Farm in Berlin, Mass. hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
