SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- All seven members of the 2023-24 Mount Holyoke College tennis team received ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, and the Lyons easily claimed ITA All-Academic Team status, as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its year-end academic awards for 2024.
The tennis team becomes the final Lyons squad of the academic year to earn team academic honors within its sport's governing body. All Lyons teams accomplished such an achievement this year.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, players must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above. With an average GPA of 3.88 among seven team members, the Lyons far surpassed the ITA award standards.
The entire squad of Mount Holyoke student-athletes getting their shine Thursday included Rachel Allen '27 (Mary Esther, Fla.) Kennedy Bagley-Fortner '26 (Montclair, N.J.); Annika Chai '25 (London, England); Jaskirat Kaur '26 (Mohali, India); Natali Kostadinovic '27 (Pirot, Serbia), Cal Smith '26 (Bridgewater, Mass.); and Kate Vavra '26 (Weston, Mass.).
