WESTWOOD, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke College sophomore Cal Smith and first-year Rachel Allen were named the NEWMAC Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week on Monday, after their stellar 3-0 week as the Lyons' No. 2 doubles team.
Smith (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Allen (Mary Esther, Fla.) helped Mount Holyoke go 3-0 last week with wins at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Tuesday (6-3), at Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on Thursday (6-1), and at home against Springfield on Saturday (5-4), in the Lyons' NEWMAC opener.
Smith and Allen are 6-3 on the year as Mount Holyoke's No. 2 doubles team, including a 6-1 mark since Oct. 1.
The Lyons (7-2, 1-0 NEWMAC) bring a four-match winning streak into their next match, which takes place Wednesday at 5:30pm against Babson.
