2010-11 Cross Country Year in ReviewJuly 06, 2011The Mount Holyoke cross country team took part in seven competitions during the fall. The Lyons were paced by senior Rebecca Engell, who was their top finisher on six occasions. They earned the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award for the fourth time in program history.

Seniors Honored at Scholar Athlete ReceptionMay 11, 2011Prior to the annual athletics awards celebration last Thursday, 24 Mount Holyoke seniors representing 12 teams were honored as part of the College's third annual Scholar Athlete Reception. The recognition event highlighted those student-athletes who have excelled both on the field and in the classroom.

Awards Handed Out at Annual Athletics BanquetMay 05, 2011The Mount Holyoke Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration this evening in Chapin Auditorium. Individuals from all 14 varsity teams were honored. Volleyball player Kara Neidhardt served as the event’s emcee. Rider Lindsay Sceats earned the prestigious Alumnae Association Scholar-Athlete Award.

Mount Holyoke Athletics Names Jennifer Adams Head Cross Country CoachApril 26, 2011Mount Holyoke is pleased to announce the hiring of Jennifer Adams as its head cross country coach. Adams will also serve as an assistant coach for both the indoor and outdoor track and field squads at the College. Her duties will begin in August.

Members of both varsity and club sports participated in the event, which was designed to showcase the unity that exists among athletes across campus.

Mount Holyoke Named a 2011 Best Value CollegeMarch 03, 2011Mount Holyoke is once again one of the nation's 50 "Best Value" private colleges and universities, according to the Princeton Review. The educational services company teamed with USA Today to present the list of "The Princeton Review Best Value Colleges for 2011" on February 22. The list features 100 schools in all - 50 private and 50 public colleges and universities.

NEWMAC Announces Fall Academic All-Conference SquadsNovember 15, 2010The NEWMAC recently announced its 2010 Fall Academic All-Conference Teams. Nineteen Mount Holyoke student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of cross country, field hockey, soccer, tennis and volleyball.

Cross Country Rounds Out 2010 Campaign at NCAA Regional ChampionshipNovember 13, 2010The Mount Holyoke cross country team rounded outs its 2010 campaign with a 28th place finish at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship today. Senior Rebecca Engell wrapped up her career with a personal best time on the six meter course. She crossed the line in 24:24 to secure 72nd place overall.

Host Vassar College narrowly edged out Wellesley College for its first ever team title. The Lyons were paced by senior Rebecca Engell, first year Lucia Garcia and sophomore Elizabeth MacLauchlan.

Cross Country Races at New England ChampionshipOctober 09, 2010The Mount Holyoke cross country team posted a 44th place finish at the 2010 New England Cross Country Championship today in Boston, Massachusetts. A total of 322 runners from 47 teams competed in the event, which took place at Franklin Park. Leading the way for the Lyons was senior Rebecca Engell, who completed the 5,000 meter course in 20:17 to secure 189th place.

Cross Country Participates in Williams College Purple Valley ClassicSeptember 25, 2010The Mount Holyoke cross country team took part in the annual Williams College Purple Valley Classic today in Williamstown, Mass. A total of 210 runners representing 19 squads participated in the 6,000 meter race at Mount Greylock Regional High School. Mount Holyoke grabbed 18th place overall.

2010 Fall Schedules UnveiledAugust 25, 2010The Mount Holyoke Department of Athletics has unveiled schedules for each of its fall teams. Printable copies of the schedules are available for download here. Teams included are crew, cross country, field hockey, golf, riding, soccer, tennis and volleyball.
