Under her direction of second year head coach Beth Somerset, the Mount Holyoke cross country team took part in seven competitions during the fall. The Lyons were paced by senior Rebecca Engell, who was their top finisher on six occasions. They earned the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award for the fourth time in program history.

Rebecca Engell Mount Holyoke kicked off its season with a fifth place showing at the Smith College Invitational. Five Lyons placed in the top 50 overall. Engell turned in an outstanding performance, taking fourth place with a time of 20:25.77. She was followed closely by first year Lucia Garcia, who earned 16th place with a time of 21:37.19 in her collegiate debut.

Garcia was at it again the following weekend at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Invitational. Her time of 20:04 was good for 76th place overall.

Engell was consistently at the top of Mount Holyoke's leaderboard for the remainder of the year.

After taking 18th place at the Williams College Invitational, Mount Holyoke finished 44th at the New England Cross Country Championship. The team added a fifth place result at the Seven Sisters Championship.

With Engell leading the way, the Lyons took home eighth place at the NEWMAC Championship. The senior nabbed 22nd place overall with a time of 19:55.42. Garcia chipped in with a 41st place result, crossing the line in 20:42.44.

Mount Holyoke closed out its season with a 28th place performance in its season finale at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship. Engell wrapped up her career with a personal best time on the six meter course. She crossed the line in 24:24 to secure 72nd place overall. The Lyons also received solid production from Garcia, who took 114th place with a time of 25:20.
