SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Alexa Skinner scored on a penalty kick after an inadvertent hand ball foul was called, and Keene State College went on to preserve the shutout in a 1-0 non-conference victory over the Mount Holyoke College soccer team on Monday night at the MHC Soccer Field.

Keene State (8-3-7) rises to 2-1 all-time against Mount Holyoke (3-10-2), including a 2-0 win one season ago.

The game was rescheduled after being postponed on Sept. 6.

The decisive play occurred in the 36th minute. Keene State's Giuliana Stolfi's corner kick was headed away from the goal by a Lyons defender to Keene State's Isabella Moran, who took a hard shot from 10 feet out that hit Mount Holyoke sophomore Taryn White's (Alexandria, Va.) left hand. The Owls were awarded the penalty kick, and Skinner's well-struck ball into the left corner of the goal was virtually unsavable by Lyons first-year goalkeeper Evie Krieg (Frisco, Texas).

The game was very evenly played, with Keene State outshooting Mount Holyoke 17-13 and earning four corner kicks to the Lyons' four.

Krieg finished with eight saves, including two spectacular diving stops. Keene State goalie Sonia Moritz had five saves in her sixth shutout of the season.

Mount Holyoke will play at Smith College Wednesday at 3:30pm in the Lyons' final road game. Keene State plays at Fitchburg State Wednesday at 4pm in the Owls' regular-season finale.
