Schuyler Pettibone named NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week

WESTWOOD, Mass. -- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference named Mount Holyoke first-year defender Schuyler Pettibone as the NEWMAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, following Pettibone's exceptional performance for the week ending Oct. 15, 2023.

Pettibone (Raleigh, N.C.) scored her first collegiate goal in the 28th minute of Saturday's game at Wheaton College, with an assist by junior Avery Livingston (La Grange, Ill.). The goal stood up as the game-winner with the help of outstanding defense by Mount Holyoke, including Pettibone on the back line and first-year goalie Evie Krieg (Frisco, Texas) making six saves for the shutout. Mount Holyoke's win was its first against Wheaton since 1994.

Additionally, in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to Springfield, Pettibone was responsible for a team save.

Pettibone is Mount Holyoke soccer's first NEWMAC Player of the Week since 2018.
