  • 2012-13 Soccer Year in Review

    Sixth-year head coach Kanae Haneishi helped guide the Mount Holyoke soccer team to an overall record of 3-12-2 in 2012. The Lyons were 2-7-0 in NEWMAC play, which included solid victories over Coast Guard and Babson. In addition to the year-end accolades for Hannah Yee, the Lyons were also strong academically as four student-athletes were named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team.

    The New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) has announced its 2012 All-New England honors for Division III and Mount Holyoke College sophomore Hannah Yee has been named to the Second Team for her efforts.

    The NEWMAC has announced its All-Conference Team in women’s soccer and Mount Holyoke College sophomore Hannah Yee has been named to the Second Team for her efforts. It marks her second straight All-Conference honor, having earned Second Team recognition as a first year.
  • Soccer Blanks Babson, 2-0 in Regular Season Finale

    The Mount Holyoke College soccer team celebrated Senior Day in style as two of its seniors scored goals for a 2-0 shutout over visiting Babson College in NEWMAC action on Saturday. The game was the conference regular season finale for both teams. With the win, the Lyons finish the season with a 3-12-2 record and a 2-7-0 mark in the league. The Beavers move to 8-8-2 with a 5-3-1 NEWMAC record.
  • Soccer Tripped Up at MCLA, 2-0

    Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) tallied two first-half goals enroute to a 2-0 victory over Mount Holyoke College in non-conference women’s soccer action on Wednesday. With the win, the Trailblazers move to 7-9 overall, while the Lyons slip to 2-12-2.
  • Soccer Downed at Springfield, 4-2

    Nina Vital found the back of the net three times to power the Springfield College women's soccer team to a 4-2 win against Mount Holyoke in NEWMAC action on Saturday. The victory improves Springfield's record to 10-4-1, 7-1 in conference play, while the Lyons drop to 2-11-2, and 1-7 in the NEWMAC.
  • Soccer Shoulders 2-1 Loss to Clark

    Powered by a goal in each half, the Clark University women’s soccer team held off Mount Holyoke College, 2-1, in NEWMAC action on Tuesday evening. With the victory, which saw junior Janelle Pasternack record two assists, the Cougars move to 7-7-1 overall and 4-3-0 in conference play. The Lyons slip to 2-10-2 on the season and 1-6-0 in the NEWMAC.

    Wellesley College scored in the first half of action and the goal proved to be the game’s lone tally as the Blue held on for a 1-0 victory over Mount Holyoke in NEWMAC soccer action on Saturday at the MHC Soccer Field. With the win, Wellesley improves to 6-7-1 and 3-3-0 in conference play, while the Lyons slip to 2-9-2 and 1-5-0 in the NEWMAC.
  • Soccer Plays to a 1-1 2OT Draw Against Connecticut College

    Despite goals in each half, neither Mount Holyoke College nor Connecticut College could grab the go-ahead tally as the two teams played to a 1-1 double overtime draw on Wednesday at the MHC soccer field. With the tie, the homestanding Lyons move to 2-8-2 overall, while the visiting Camels are now 3-6-2 on the season.

    Following a downpour that lasted the entire second half, MIT women’s soccer shut out Mount Holyoke, 3-0, at home on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers are now 9-2-1 for the season and remain undefeated in conference play (4-0), while the Lyons fell to 2-8-1.

    Junior midfielder Megan Forti tallied in the 16th minute and the goal held as Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) held off Mount Holyoke College in NEWMAC action at the MHC Soccer Field. With the victory, the Engineers move to 5-6-0 on the season and record their first NEWMAC victory to go to 1-3-0. The homestanding Lyons slip to 2-7-1 and 1-3-0 in conference play.

    Wheaton College women's soccer senior Cassey Muse became the ninth 100-point scorer in program history on Saturday, as her initial assist on the game-winner hit the century mark during the Lyons' 4-0 win over visiting Mount Holyoke College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at Mirrione Stadium.

    Sophomore Hannah Yee scored four straight goals and assisted on a fifth to lead the Mount Holyoke College women's soccer team to a 9-0 non-conference victory at Bay Path College. With the victory, which saw seven players record a point, the Lyons improve to 2-5-1 overall. The Wildcats slip to 2-5-1 on the season.

The Lyons currently hold the edge in the all-time series, going 7-5-0 against the Bears. MHC has claimed victory in each of the last six meetings, including a 3-2 double-overtime thriller last season that saw current Lyon’ Hannah Yee tally a pair of header goals.

    GiGi Ross scored a pair of goals as the Smith College soccer team opened their 2012 NEWMAC schedule with a 3-0 win over longtime rival Mount Holyoke College. It was the first time Smith had beaten the Lyons since 2009.

It was the first contest of the season for Amherst, which is now 1-0. The Lyons slip to 0-3-1 on the young season.

    Mount Holyoke returns to their home field on Thursday against the Blazers of Elms College. The Lyons are coming off a 1-1 tie against Nichols in the season-opener last Saturday, while Elms comes to South Hadley having dropped each of their first two contests, including a 3-0 loss to Richard Stockton last weekend. Thursday’s game marks the 16th all-time meeting between the two schools. Mount Holyoke currently leads the series with a 9-5-1 record, including a 7-0 win over the Blazers in 2011.
  • Soccer Battles to 1-1 2OT Draw Against Nichols

    Senior forward Kiana Lussier’s goal at 39:05 of the opening half tied the contest, but neither team was able to find the back of the net over the next 65 minutes as Mount Holyoke College battled to a 1-1 double-overtime tie against Nichols College in the season opener for both squads.

    Another exciting season of Mount Holyoke soccer kicks off Saturday as the Lyons welcome the Bison of Nichols. In the all-time series, it is a 1-1-0 mark between the two squads. This is the first meeting since the 2003 season. The Lyons claimed victory in the first meeting (1-0 in 2002), while the Bison posted the most recent win (2-1 in 2003).
  • Summer Soccer Camp A Success

    Area girls had the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming fall season as they participated in the Mount Holyoke College Soccer Camp run by coach Kanae Haneishi. More than 40 children ranging in ages from elementary school all the way to high school took their turns learning and refining their soccer skills.
