Crew Competes at New England Rowing Championships

 

WORCESTER, Mass. (May 4, 2013) – The Mount Holyoke College crew team competed in the New England Rowing Championships today at Lake Quinsigamond. The Lyons finished in 17th place overall with 22.92 points.

Mount Holyoke's varsity eight boat took home second place in the Third Level Final of its division. The Lyons posted a time of 7:27.140, which was good for 14th place overall and 12th amongst NCAA Division III competitors. Prior to the final, they posted a fifth place time of 7:22.209 in their preliminary heat.

In the second varsity eight division, Mount Holyoke finished sixth overall in the Petite Final with a time of 7:51.398. The boat placed seventh in their preliminary race earlier in the day with a time of 7:28.149.

Mount Holyoke's novice eight boat also saw success in its race, advancing to the Petite Final where they finished third overall with a mark of 7:33.585. Overall, the boat was ninth overall in the division and seventh among NCAA Division III opponents.

The Lyons head back to Lake Quinsigamond next weekend when they take part in the 2013 ECAC Championships. Action gets underway on Sunday.
