WORCESTER, Mass. (Apr. 14, 2013) – The Mount Holyoke College crew team continued its outstanding effort on the waters of Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, taking on Simmons, Union, Clark, UMass-Lowell and Franklin & Marshall on Sunday.
The first varsity eight boat finished second overall on the day, posting a time of 7:21.8 just behind Simmons, which had an overall time of 7:14.1. In the second varsity eight race, the Lyons were third overall, finishing with a mark of 7:42.8. That group finished just behind Simmons (7:28.1) and Union (7:41.8).
For the fourth straight race, the novice eight boat claimed victory, posting a time of 7:56.5 to edge out Simmons, which had a time of 7:57.2.
Rounding out the solid efforts on Sunday was the novice four race, which featured two MHC boats. Placing second was the varsity four boat, which competed in the race to a time of 8:52.5. The novice four boat was fourth overall with a time of 9:19.4.
The Lyons return to Lake Quinsigamond next weekend when it competes at the 2013 NEWMAC Championships. Action is set for Saturday, beginning at 8:30am.
