Crew Excels at Seven Sisters Championship

BOSTON, Mass. (Oct. 27, 2012) - The Mount Holyoke crew team returned to the Charles River on Saturday, competing in the Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Simmons College. The Lyons excelled in all facets today, finishing in a tie with the host Sharks for second overall among the five competing teams. Wellesley claimed this year's event title.

In the first varsity race, MHC posted a time of 12:59, finishing fourth overall and just seconds behind Smith (12:57) and Simmons (12:51). In the second varsity race, the Lyons 'A' boat finished third overall with an elapsed time of 13:46, while the 'B' boat was seventh with a time of 14:31.

The Lyons also excelled in the first novice race as Mount Holyoke finished in a tie for first with Wellesley, both boats crossed with an elapsed time of 14:08. That team also beat out NEWMAC-rival Smith and Simmons.

In the second novice race, MHC's 'A' boat posted a time of 15:40, which was second only to Simmons, while beating out Wellesley and Smith.

Wellesley won its fourth straight title, posting 34 points, while Mount Holyoke and Simmons tied with 28 points. Smith amassed 24 points, while Brn Mawr had nine points.

Mount Holyoke has now concluded its fall schedule and will continue it's schedule in the spring.
