Cross Country Competes at 2017 Seven Sisters Championship

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College cross country team was in action at the 2017 Seven Sisters Championship on Sunday, hosted by Smith College. The Lyons compiled 176 points to finish seventh overall. Leading the way was junior Corrin Moss, who finished just outside the top 20 in a solid effort.

Moss (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Alternative) crossed the line in a time of 25:21 in the 6k event to place 21st. She was followed by first year Simone Jacob (San Francisco, Calif./San Francisco University HS), who posted an overall time of 26:23 to take 35th overall and second amongst the Lyons runners. Sophomore Michelle Serrano (Los Angeles, Calif./West Adams Preparatory) was next across for MHC, finishing 37th overall with a time of 26:29.

Racing to a 40th-place finish was sophomore Emma Raney (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto), who was the fourth-place finisher on the team with a time of 26:43. Close behind Raney was junior Emsie Cronin (Ledyard, Conn./Ledyard), who placed 43rd overall with a time of 27:31.

Rounding out the efforts for the Lyons were sophomores Brigit Wolf (New Providence, N.J./Union County Magnet) and Kayla Dillon (Great Barrington, Mass./Monument Mountain Regional). Wolf took 45th overall at the meet, crossing with a time of 27:39, while Dillon was 47th on the day with a mark of 28:01.

Mount Holyoke is off next weekend, but returns to action on Sunday, October 29 when it competes at the 2017 NEWMAC Championship, hosted at Franklin Park in Boston. Action gets underway at 11am.
