Kirsten Kilburn

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (March 19, 2012) – Mount Holyoke College first year Kirsten Kilburn has been named NEWMAC Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for the week of March 12-18. In addition to racking up seven goals, the midfielder collected eight draw controls, six ground balls and five caused turnover in a 1-1 week for the Lyons.

Kilburn was at her best on Thursday, when she erupted for four goals, five draw controls, four caused turnovers and four ground balls in a 17-14 triumph over Western New England University. Three days later, she found the back of the net three times in a heartbreaking 9-8 overtime setback at Colorado College.

The rookie has made an immediate impact for the Lyons with her outstanding play at both ends of the field. In four games, she has posted 14 goals, 19 ground balls, eight ground balls and six caused turnovers.

Her most memorable performance came in a dramatic 15-14 victory at Roger Williams University on March 10, when she found the back of the net for what proved to be the winner in the waning seconds.

Kilburn has recorded hat tricks in each of her first four collegiate outings.

Mount Holyoke (3-1, 0-0 NEWMAC) will close out its spring break trip against Carthage College on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in Colorado Springs.
