The Mount Holyoke golf program kicked off a new era in 2011-12, as Tim Walko completed his first full season as head coach. Over the course of the year, the team took part in eight tournaments.

First year Madi Mendiola made an immediate impact on the program with her outstanding play from the outset. The rookie racked up five top ten finishes and posted the second best scoring average in school history (81.27). She ended the season ranked 12th in the region.

After opening up at New York University, Mount Holyoke hosted its annual Invitational the following weekend. Mendiola turned in a brilliant performance, finishing in seventh place overall with a two-day score of 158.

The Lyons followed that with a ninth place showing at the Williams College Fall Classic before closing out the fall portion of their schedule at Wellesley College's Ann S. Batchelder Invitational. Mendiola was impressive at both events. After grabbing fifth place at Williams, she fired a 154 at Wellesley to secure second place overall.

Mount Holyoke spent its spring break training and competing in Myrtle Beach, S.C. During their trip, the Lyons secured first place in a tri-match against William Smith College and Sewanee University. Mendiola sizzled at the event, taking second place with a score of 84. She finished just in front of junior Felicitas Gerlach, whose tally of 97 was good for third place. First year Hannah Falvey chipped in with a fifth place score of 100.

From there, the Lyons closed out their season with three more tournaments. After collecting eighth place at the Vassar College Invitational and 10th place at the Jack Leaman Invitational, they finished seventh at the Williams Spring Invitational. Mendiola score of 166 was good for eighth place at Williams.
