NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (Jan. 21, 2013) - The New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) has released its weekly awards and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Kate Karraker was named to the Weekly Honor Roll after her performance last week.

A sophomore guard from Morgantown, W.V., Karraker helped MHC to a 1-1 record last week. In an 86-82 double overtime victory against Springfield, she poured in a career-best 25 points on 7-for-9 shooting. All seven of her shots came from three-point range for a perfect 100.0% shooting percentage (7-for-7), tying the school record for three-pointers made in a game and recording a new mark for three-point percentage in a game.

Additionally, Karraker was perfect on all free throw chances (4-4) and had a career-high five steals against the Pride, helping the Lyons post a school record for most points in a game (86).

Karraker closed out the week as Mount Holyoke's top scorer, dropping in 12 points in a 65-35 loss at Wellesley. She added two rebounds, an assist and a steal in that game as well.

A starter in all 15 games thus far, Karraker is third on the team in scoring, averaging 9.7 points per game. In addition to a 3.5 rebounding average, she is second in assists per contest with 2.3 and is the team's top minutes getter with 37.1 minutes average per game.

Karraker averaged 2.3 points per game and appeared in 23 games during her first year at Mount Holyoke.

A former standout at the Taft School (Conn.), Karraker was a member of the basketball team during her high school career. In addition to serving as captain, she was the team's Most Valuable Player, helping her squad win the Founders League Championship.

Mount Holyoke (4-11; 2-8 NEWMAC) is back on the court on Wednesday, traveling to Smith for a key 7pm game against the Pioneers. The Lyons then host another critical conference game on Saturday, welcoming Babson for a 1pm match at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium.
