Field hockey to scrimmage at Union on Aug. 25, then open season on Sept. 2

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College field hockey team will play a 19-game regular season schedule this fall, beginning with a road game at Roger Williams University on Sept. 2 at 3pm.

The Lyons began practice on Saturday, Aug. 19, and will tune up for the season with a pair of scrimmages: at Union College on Friday, Aug. 25 at 12:30pm, and then at home against Elms College on Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 10am.

Mount Holyoke's first regular season home game will take place against Westfield State University on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 5pm, before the Lyons embark on a weekend trip to Thomas College in Waterville, Maine, for the weekend of Sept. 9-10. Mount Holyoke plays at Thomas on Sept. 9 at 11am, and remains there to face UMaine-Farmington in a neutral-field game on Sept. 10 at 12pm.

The Lyons open New England Small College Women's and Men's Athletic Conference play at WPI on Sept. 16. The conference has expanded to include 12 field hockey programs, adding Salve Regina University for the 2023-24 academic year. Mount Holyoke will host Salve Regina on Oct. 14 at 12pm.

Head coach Andy Whitcomb enters her 26th season leading the program, assisted by Sherry Webb, Anna Baeth, and Becca Main. The team's three captains are junior Sophia Guziewicz (Enfield, N.H.), senior Leah Manning (Durham, N.H.), and junior Gracie Wilkinson (Amherst, Mass.).
