Coklow Concludes Indoor Season at NCAA Championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Mar. 8, 2013) - Mount Holyoke first year sprinter Camille Coklow saw her indoor season come to an end on Friday evening in a valiant run during the preliminaries at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Coklow, who will continue her rookie season during the outdoor campaign, finished 13th overall in the preliminaries.

Coklow, a native of Chicago, Ill., was one of 15 to participate in the 60-meter dash, posting an overall time of 7.89 in the event today.

She qualified for her first National Championships with a time of 7.71 which she set during the preliminaries of her event at the ECAC Championships. Coklow ended up third overall in the event and also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash.

A former standout at the Latin School of Chicago, Coklow has had an impressive rookie season. In addition to recording multiple school records, she participated in a number of championship meets. One of her top outings came at the New England Division III Championships, where she finished second overall in the 55-meter dash and garnered All-New England honors.

Additionally, Coklow has been outstanding in other events. Among her top non-track performances came in the long jump at the Springfield Invitational, where she won the event with a distance of 5.29 meters.

Coklow was the first Mount Holyoke athlete since 2004 to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships. The last student-athletes to participate at indoor Nationals were Langhan Dee '04 and Johanna Thomas '04, both of whom garnered National All-American status at the 2004 Championships.

The Lyons track & field team returns to action on March 23 when it competes at the Westfield State Jerry Gravel Classic. Mount Holyoke will then host the MHC Spring Fling on March 30.
