Track & Field Competes at Springfield Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Jan. 26, 2013) - Powered by a number of strong performances, the Mount Holyoke College indoor track & field team finished 10th overall at the 2013 Springfield College Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Lyons were led by a school record performance from first year Camille Coklow, who eclipsed her own mark and personal best in the 60-meter dash and also claimed victory in the long jump.

Coklow (Chicago, Ill./The Latin School of Chicago) set the program record in the 60-m dash for the second time this season, hitting a time of 8.03. That time qualified her for both the Division III New England Championships and ECAC DIII Championships. Coklow also qualified for both events with a win in the long jump where she recorded a distance of 5.29 meters.

Other solid performances included first year Elizabeth DeLeon (Boise, Idaho/Timberline), who placed fifth overall in the 1000-meter race with a time of 3:11.88. That time was just off qualification for the DIII New England Championships.

Senior Jenna Slipke (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Central) also had a strong effort in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:29.93.

In the 4x200 relay, the foursome of Amelia Tang (Hougang, Singapore/Victoria Junior College), Maddie Ballon (Gillette, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional), Coklow and Nina Marciano (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) finished fourth overall with a time of 1:55.62.

The Lyons return to action next Saturday when they compete at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic beginning at 12pm.
