MANSFIELD, Conn. (Apr. 15, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College outdoor track and field team took part in the fourth annual Eastern Connecticut State University Invitational today at the Mansfield Athletic Complex. Joining the Lyons and Warriors at the non-scoring meet were Connecticut College, Emerson College and Trinity College.

Mount Holyoke wrapped up the day with a pair of first place finishes. Sophomore Angelica Pascual took home top honors in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.89, while first year Julianna Dahbura won the long jump with a distance of 4.74 meters.

Pascual's outstanding day also included a second place finish in the 100-meter dash (13.35) and a fourth place result in the long jump (4.47 meters). She teamed up with sophomore Whitney Bailey, first year Kathleen O'Connor and first year Bianca Routt to collect second place in the 4x100-meter relay (54.14).

A total of five Lyons recorded third place finishes in their respective events. That group included first year Andrea Trinkle (long jump – 4.50 meters), sophomore Maddie Ballon (pole vault – 8'0"), first year Maeve Stier (high jump – 1.40 meters), sophomore Jillian London (javelin – 29.40 meters) and Routt (800-meter run – 2:23.30).

Trinkle also excelled in the triple jump, taking fifth place overall (9.41 meters). Meanwhile, junior Gizelle Fletcher picked up a fourth place finish in the 200-meter dash (29.27), and first year Amanda Hershman crossed the line fifth in the 100-meter dash (15.63).

Sophomore Connie Ward and junior Alicia Forrest excelled in the throwing events. Ward took third place in the shot put (9.65 meters) and fifth place in the discus (22.22 meters). Meanwhile, Forrest recorded the fourth best toss in the shot put (9.63 meters) and the fifth longest in the hammer (29.07).

O'Connor chipped in with fifth place finishes in both the 100-meter (18.21) and 400-meter (1:17.90) hurdle events. Mount Holyoke also received solid production from juniors Emily Follo and Felicia Cordeiro. Follo grabbed fourth place in the 5,000-meter run (20:20.13), and Cordeiro collected fifth place in the 1,500-meter run (5:26.91).

The Lyons will return to action next weekend at the Bowdoin College Aloha Relays. The event is slated to begin on Friday and conclude on Saturday.
