Edebeli Turns In Another Strong Performance at MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Feb. 12, 2011) – Senior Jacinta Edebeli enjoyed another outstanding day for the Mount Holyoke College women's indoor track and field team this afternoon at the MIT Coed Invitational. The non-scoring meet featured a number of teams from around the region.

Edebeli took home top honors in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.59. She also crossed the line first in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 27.38. As a result, she qualified for next weekend's New England Division III Championships in the event. The senior went on to establish a new personal record in the shot put with her second place toss of 10.87 meters.

Junior Gizelle Fletcher secured third place in both the 55-meter dash (7.82) and the 200-meter dash (27.75). Meanwhile, senior Hannah DiCocco placed second in the 1,000-meter run (3:30.60), and junior Felicia Cordeiro recorded a fourth place finish in the 800-meter dash with a personal best time of 2:39.66.

Edebeli and sophomore Maddie Ballon will return to MIT to compete in the New England Division III Championships next weekend. Edebeli has qualified in the 55-meter dash and the shot put in addition to the 200-meter dash. Meanwhile, Ballon has qualified in the pole vault. The two day competition is slated to begin on Friday and conclude on Saturday.
