WATERVILLE, Maine -- Mount Holyoke College senior Maddy Sewell exhibited the consistent excellence that has become her trademark on Saturday, again finishing in the top half amongst an elite field of divers at the NCAA Diving Regionals at Colby College.

In the finale of her outstanding two seasons of action for Mount Holyoke, Sewell (Scottsdale, Ariz.) placed 11th among 27 competitors in 3-meter diving with 433.25 points. Sewell was only a hair behind 10th-place Avery Rappaport of Colby (433.40), and only 1.55 points away from fourth place.

Sewell also placed 10th out of 31 competitors in 1-meter diving on Friday evening, with 394.35 points, trailing ninth-place Jaya Magavi of Wellesley by 0.55 points.

A total of eight divers from the Northeast Region are to be selected to advance to the NCAA Championships in Greensboro, N.C.

Sewell had a late start to collegiate competition, with her first season cancelled and her sophomore year hampered by injury. But from her first competition as a junior, Sewell established herself as one of the top Division III divers in the region, winning four NEWMAC Diver of the Week honors along the way. Sewell placed second at the 2023 NEWMAC Championships in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving to claim All-NEWMAC honors in both events, and at the 2023 NCAA Diving Regionals, she took eighth place in 1-meter and 12th in 3-meter diving.

"I am so proud of all the work Maddy has put in leading up to this meet," said Lyons diving coach Rachael Araujo. "She has continued to put MHC Diving on the map during some of the biggest and toughest competitions of the year. This was a great meet to close out her senior season with."
