Squash Concludes Action at Pioneer Valley Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College squash team wrapped-up play at the 2015 Pioneer Valley Invitational on Saturday afternoon, shouldering a tough 9-0 loss at the hands of Bowdoin College. With the win, the #19 Polar Bears improve to 2-7 on the season, while the #26 Lyons slip to 4-9 overall.

At the top of the ladder, Bowdoin's Sarah Nelson battled to a 3-0 (12-10, 11-4, 11-6) win over MHC first year Brandy Williamson. In the second position, Lyons senior Samantha Rosado fell to Tully Ross by a 3-0 (13-11, 11-9, 11-8) margin. From the third spot, Aldren Drake took a 3-0 (11-5, 11-9, 11-7) victory over MHC sophomore Sanjna Merchant.

Bowdoin's Sara Wlodarczyk bested sophomore Allison Shilling, 3-0 (11-5, 11-8, 11-4), while Diya Chopra handed MHC junior Catherine Ryan a 3-0 (11-2, 11-4, 11-8) defeat at five. The sixth position saw Chloe Polikoff down Lyons' Emily Chang, 3-0 (11-8, 11-4, 11-4), while Emily Simonton rallied for a 3-1 (11-2, 9-11, 11-4, 11-0) win against MHC junior Anna Hartman.

Alex Moreno notched a 3-0 (11-2, 11-6, 11-3) win against Mount Holyoke sophomore Amanda Lee in the eighth position, while Nicole Ampatey was the winner over Lyons' junior Annie Wong at nine by a 3-0 (11-9, 11-3, 11-9) margin.

The Lyons return to action next Saturday, traveling to Williams for a 1pm match against the Ephs.
