CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College squash team shouldered a 5-4 loss to Connecticut College in the 3/4 playoff game of the Epps Cup at the 2015 CSA National Championships. With the loss, the Lyons conclude their season with a 7-17 overall mark.

There were a number of highlights at this year's championship, including senior Samantha Rosado who was named the 2015 recipient of the Wetzel Award. The award is given annually to the best senior women's college squash player who learned to play in college. Winners of the award must show outstanding growth technically as a player, a sound understanding of the rules of squash, and positive on-court poise and demeanor.

Rosado is the second player from Mount Holyoke in the last three years to earn the honor, as Kathryn Brummer '13 was the 2013 honoree.

In the final match of the tournament, the Lyons were paced by Rosado, first year's Brandy Williamson and Emily Chang, along with junior Catherine Ryan, who all claimed victory.

Rosado posted a smooth 3-0 (11-7, 11-4, 11-8) win against Leah Puklin in the second position. She finished with a perfect 3-0 record on the weekend. Williamson also notched a 3-0 mark on the weekend, she posted a 3-0 (11-8,11-9,11-6) win against the Camels' Ashley Arthur at the top of the ladder.

Chang, who was the third Lyons to go perfect on the weekend, recorded a 3-1 (11-5, 2-11, 11-4, 11-6) victory over Allie Fuller in the sixth position. Rounding out the victories was Ryan, who battled to a hard-fought 3-1 (12-10, 11-5, 8-11, 11-4) win over Nina Nalle at five.

The Lyons also saw a gutsy effort from junior Annie Wong, who shouldered a tough 3-2 (11-4, 6-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-9) loss in the ninth position to Victoria Allen.

MHC will now wait for individual selection to be announced for the 2015 CSA Indivdual National Championships, which will take place next weekend at Princeton University.
