Squash Concludes Play at Division III National Tourney

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Action at the 2014 Division III National Tournament at Wesleyan University has concluded and the Mount Holyoke College squash team saw more great performances on Sunday to conclude the first semester.

Senior Samantha Rosado (Meriden, Conn./F.T. Maloney) represented the Lyons in the B draw consolation semifinals and despite a hard-fought run to get there, fell to Hamilton's Morris by a 3-0 (13-11, 11-6, 11-6) margin.

In the B plate competition, sophomore Sanjna Merchant (Mumbai, India/Jai Hind College) posted a 3-1 (11-8, 9-11, 14-12, 11-7) win against Connecticut College's Sieverding to advance to the final match.

Her opponent was a familiar one as she battled teammate and senior Xianger Fei (Hangzhou, China/Hangzhou Foreign Language School). The pair played a hard-fought match with Fei coming out victorious by a 3-1 (11-5, 7-11, 11-7, 11-5) margin.

Mount Holyoke is now idle for the remainder of 2014 and returns to action on January 15 when it hosts Bates College in an 11am contest at the MHC Squash Courts.
