Squash Defeats Smith at Final Day of Wesleyan Round Robin

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Lyons closed out action at the 2014 Wesleyan Round Robin on Sunday. MHC defeated Smith by a 9-0 margin before shouldering a 9-0 loss to the host Cardinals to conclude the day.

In the win over Smith, senior Samantha Rosado led the charge, posting an 11-9, 11-2, 11-5 win at the top of the ladder against Jana Chan. Sophomore Sanjna Merchant was the winner at the second position with a 11-1, 11-2, 11-4 victory against Carly Melillo.

Sophomore Allison Shilling was an 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 victor over Geena Choo at three, while junior Catherine Ryan posted an 11-3, 11-9, 11-4 win against Eva Morgenstein at the fourth spot.

First year Emily Chang defeated Leah Jeon by an 11-4, 11-5, 11-7 margin at the five spot, while Maria Correa had an 11-3, 11-0, 11-6 win against Gracie Maull at six. Junior Rose Levenson won over Vivian Lee in seven by an 11-8, 11-7, 11-3 score, while classmate Rose Minichiello won 11-2, 11-3, 11-7 against Yvie Yao.

Sophomore Amanda Lee rounded out the victories with an 11-1, 11-5, 13-11 win against Jessica Ryan in the nine spot.

Mount Holyoke is now idle until December 3 when they host Smith College at 6:30pm.
