Squash Plays Three to Open 2014-15

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College squash team opened their 2014-15 season on Saturday, playing a trio of games on the road at the Harvard University squash courts. The Lyons went 1-2 on the day with their victory coming against the Eagles of Boston College.

MHC opened the day with a 6-3 victory against Boston College. First year Brandy Williamson opened her collegiate career with a win at the top of the ladder. Senior Samantha Rosado was also victorious from the second spot, followed by wins from senior Xianger Fei at three, sophomores Sanjna Merchant and Allison Shiling at four and five, respectively. Junior Catherine Ryan rounded out the wins for the Lyons in the sixth position.

In their middle match, the Lyons suffered a 7-2 defeat at the hands of Wellesley. Merchant, in the fourth spot, and sophomore Amanda Lee in the ninth spot, earned the wins for MHC. Mount Holyoke wrapped up the day with a 9-0 loss to Virginia.

The Lyons return to action on November 15 and 16 when they compete in multiple matches at the Wesleyan Round Robin. A detailed schedule of games can be found HERE.
