CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College squash team battled back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the match, but were unable to get past William Smith College, falling 5-4 in the Epps Cup semifinals at the CSA National Team Championships on Saturday afternoon. The Lyons move to 7-16 on the season. The Herons are now 14-5 overall.

MHC is scheduled to face-off against Connecticut College in the 3/4 playoff on Sunday at 5pm. The match time could be moved up, but will be dependent on the weather and the current winter storm affecting Massachusetts.

The Lyons opened the match on a tough note as the Herons recorded victories in the third, sixth and ninth positions. MHC battled back as senior Samantha Rosado defeated Allison Rubin by a 3-0 (11-9, 11-7, 11-9) score at two. Classmate Xianger Fei then made it a 3-2 mark as she posted a hard-fought 3-1 (11-7 ,17-15 ,12-14 ,12-10) victory against Delaney Teceno in the fifth position. The Lyons then recorded the equalizer as first year Brandy Williamson gutted out a 3-2 (8-11, 9-11, 11-7,11-3,11-5) win against Cashel McCarthy at one.

William Smith went on to post victory at eight for the 4-3 advantage, but first year Emily Chang rallied past Anna Worcester for a 3-2 (7-11, 13-11, 4-11, 11-8, 13-11) victory at seven.

The match came down to the fours and despite an outstanding effort by sophomore Allison Shilling, the Herons Andrea Tran picked up the win for the match victory.
