Golf Posts 5-1 Win Over William Smith to Open Spring Trip

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The Mount Holyoke College golf team opened its spring trip action on Tuesday, facing off against William Smith College at the PGA Wannamaker Course. The Lyons prevailed with a 5-1 match victory against the Herons.

William Smith grabbed its lone point as Maddie Diets bested Lyons' senior Heeamin Lee, 2-1. MHC went on to grab five wins, beginning with senior captain June Conti, who bested Rachel McKay. Classmate and fellow captain Allison Shilling then grabbed a 2-1 win over Annie O'Brien, followed by a tightly contested 4-3 win by first year Stephanie Spitzer over William Smith's Chloe Ethier.

First year Maggie Kohl then grabbed a narrow 4-3 win over Herons' Rachael Barry, followed by another rookie victory, this time from Elizabeth Andrian. She posted a 4-3 win over Allison Scumaci to give MHC the 5-1 margin.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Friday when it rounds out its Florida trip against Hamilton College.
