Golf Sits 6th After Opening Round of Middlebury Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Behind a 10th place showing from senior captain June Conti, the Mount Holyoke College golf team is currently sixth of 15 teams at the 2016 Middlebury Invitational. Through the opening round, the Lyons have a combined score of 340. Williams College is the current leader in the team category with a score of 315.

Conti opened the action in the First Round with a score of 81 - good for 10th overall. Classmate and fellow captain Allison Shilling, along with first year Stephanie Spitzer are tied after the opening round, both sitting 29th overall with a score of 86.

First year Elizabeth Andrian is 36th overall, shooting an 87, which puts her tied for 36th overall. Rounding out the team efforts was classmate Susan Lee, who sits 39th overall with a score of 89.

Individually, the Lyons saw first year Maggie Kohl post a score of 95, which puts her tied for 56th after the first day.

Middlebury's Chloe Levins is the top overall performer, finishing the openind day with a mark of 74. Following Williams in team action are the host Panthers, who shot a 319. Amherst sits third with a score of 325, followed by Ithaca (332) and SUNY Cortland (336).

Action at the Middlebury Invitational concludes on Sunday morning at 9am.
