Golf Finishes Fifth in Jack Leaman Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. A solid performance in day two of the Jack Leaman Invitational at Hickory Ridge Golf club put the Mount Holyoke College golf team in fifth place. Senior captain Allison Shilling finished in a tie for 11th after shooting a combined 159.

Along with Shilling's performance, first year Susan Lee improved on Saturdays performance, shooting an 81 after scoring an 85 on day one, which was good for 24th. Classmate Stephanie Spitzer also had a solid day with a score of 82, after an 86 a day earlier. Spitzer shot a combined 168 for a 26th place tie.

Senior captain June Conti improved as well, shooting a combined 171 after a score of 82 on day two. She finished in a tie for 33rd. First year Maggie Kohl finished at 177 combined after a score of 85 to tie for 40th place.

Individually, senior Heeamin Lee shot a 87, improving on a score of 93 a day before, good for a 50th place tie. First year Madi Gale finished in 64th place after finishing with a combined score of 225, while classmate Sophia Verducci was in a tie for 65th after a 244 point performance.

Jennifer Bluetling was the winner with a combined score of 146 to help New York University to an overall score of 610 to take to win.

MHC will be back on the links on Saturday and Sunday at the Liberty League Championships hosted by New York University.
