Golf Currently 11th After Day One of Williams Fall Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Lyons golf team returned to the links on Saturday, and after the opening round of action, sit 11th overall at the Williams Fall Invitational. MHC was led through the first 18 holes by senior captain Allison Shilling, who is 23rd overall in the field of 91 golfers.

Shilling, who is playing as an individual in this week's action, shot an 82 to get things going.

Classmate and fellow captain June Conti leads the Lyons in team action, sitting in a tie for 31st overall. She posted a score of 85 on the afternoon. First year Elizabeth Andrian is in a tie for 47th after having shot an 88 on the day, while classmate Susan Lee is just one stroke behind with a score of 89, good for 51st overall.

Rookie Stephanie Spitzer is tied for 58th overall, shooting a 90 in the First Round, while senior Heeamin Lee is currently 81st after posting a score of 102 on day one.

The host Ephs lead the invitational through the opening round, shooting a 310. Middlebury sits five strokes behind for second with a 315, followed by Amherst and New York University, who are tied for third with a score of 318. LeMoyne and Hamilton round out the top five, both with a score of 335.

Individually, Williams' Elizabeth Gudas leads the field, posting a score of 73 on day one.

Action at this year's invitational continues on Sunday at 9am with the Final Round.
