Golf Finishes 11th in Williams Fall Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – The Mount Holyoke golf team wrapped up play at the Williams Fall Invitational 11th overall in a field of 17. The Lyons were paced by senior captain Allison Shilling, who finished 26th overall as an individual. Shilling's score was on par with Saturday's performance, shooting an 82 for a total of 164.

In team action, MHC was led by senior captain June Conti (Amenia, N.Y./Miss Porter's School) who finished in a tie for 28th overall, moving up three spots from yesterday. Conti rallied back to shoot an 81 after notching an 85 in the first round for a combined score of 166.

First year Susan Lee (Irvine Calif./University HS) was tied for 39th overall with a combined 172. She bounced back in a big way shooting an 83 after notching an 89 on Saturday. First year Stephanie Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) followed up with a combined 175, finishing tied for 47th. Spitzer improved with a score of 85 after shooting a 90 in day one.

First year Elizabeth Andrian (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) was tied for 57th overall with a score of 180 (88-92), while senior Heeamin Lee (Chesnut Hill, Mass./Brookline) rounded out the action in 76th with a score of 197 (102-95).

Williams College earned the victory at this year's invitational with a combined score of 612. Williams was paced by sophomore Cordelia Chan who shot a 74 both days for a score of 148. The top five was rounded out by Amherst (625) in second, New York University (626) in third, Middlebury College (641) in fourth, and Le Moyne College (673) in fifth.

Mount Holyoke will be back in action on Saturday when they head to Vermont for the Middlebury Invitational. First round action will kick off at 12:00pm on Saturday.
