Golf Sits 6th After Day One of Batchelder Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke golf team kicked off it's 2016-17 season on Saturday, competing in day one of the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational, hosted by Wellesley. Through the first round of action, the Lyons sit in sixth place overall.

Leading the way for MHC is senior captain June Conti, who sits in a tie for 20th overall after day one with a score of 82. Close behind in 27th is first year Stephanie Spitzer, who notched an 85 to begin her collegiate career.

Classmate Susan Lee concluded day one a few strokes behind, currently sitting 36th overall with an 89. In 38th, the Lyons have first year Maggie Kohl with a 92, while classmate Elizabeth Andrian is 42nd after day one with an opening score of 99.

Individually, senior captain Allison Shilling sits in a tie for 36th with Lee, shooting an 89 on day one.

Amherst College currently holds the team lead through the first round, posting a score of 307. Williams College is close behind with an opening round of 309, followed by New York University in third with a 316. Middlebury is fourth with a 321, while the host Blue round out the top five with a score of 328.

Action at the Batchelder Invitational continues on Sunday at 9am.
